Parent Information and Events

Welcome Parents!

What a fantastic start to the year! Your child has spent the last 3 weeks settling in to their class, getting to know the teacher and making new friends.

There are a number of ways you can help your child at home:

Listen to your child read every day.

Complete your child’s homework together and return on time, along with books.

Talk to your child about what they have been doing at school, what they like or don’t like.

Allow them to take risks, get messy and develop physical skills – climbing trees etc

Practice name writing every day especially their names!

Encourage your child not to worry when they find something difficult or get something wrong. Challenge is good!

Ensure they are prepared for PE, include both sets of PE kits.

Bring in a water bottle.

Label everything!!!

In Reception we encourage your child to be an independent learner and and independent child. You can help achieve this by encouraging the following:

Encourage your child to find their own class pegs and hang up there own coats and bags.

Ensure your child comes to school as much as possible – good attendance = good progress.

Encourage your child to get dressed by themselves for example jumpers, shoes and socks.

Encourage your child to go to the toilet by themselves.

Teach your child to eat by themselves using a knife, fork and spoon.

To use their words to communicate when they are sad or upset instead of crying.

Library days

Your child will have the chance to visit the school library and borrow a book of their choice. Please make sure the book is kept in the book bag everyday after reading it ready to be exchanged the following week. Library days differ for both classes so please see your parent notice board in your child class.

Reading books

These will be changed 2-3 times a week. Please ensure they are always kept in book bags so your child doesn't miss the opportunity to change their book.

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a Friday, to be returned the following Monday.

PE

PE will take place once a week on different days for both classes. Please make sure you leave the PE kits hanging on your child's peg. They will be sent home every half term for a wash.
