'Working together to succeed'

Year 6 Lockdown Work

Cooking with Mrs Mason:  Thursday 4th March @ 4pm

As promised, finally, I'll be cooking next Thursday if you'd like to join me.   We'll be making Cheese and Onion Pasties this week as they're super easy and super delicious... and once you can make pastry, you can make all sorts of things.  I'll even give you some ideas of what you can use your left over pastry for!

You'll need the following ingredients and I'll put up the rest of the instructions in time for the session:

For the pastry   Find the recipe here

  • 225g plain flour plus a little extra for rolling out
  • 100g butter / margarine

For the Cheese & Onion filling  Find the recipe here

  • 2 medium potatoes diced small
  • 1 medium onion
  • 220g Cheddar Cheese (or anything you like / have in the fridge)
  • 1 egg OR a little splash of milk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • potato peeler IF you want to remove the potato skins
  • cheese grater
  • mixing bowl
  • sharp knife
  • mixing spoon
  • baking sheet
  • rolling pin - or you could use a glass jar / anything else cylindrical that you have
  • oven

If you don't fancy cheese & onion, you can fill yours with anything you like.  I might add a little bacon or ham to the filling above.  Mrs Raffique's feta & spinach sounds delish.  Or you could fill it with your favourite vegetables, or the traditional beef filling.  Have a look on the internet if you want some inspiration, or let me know and I'll try to help if I can.

Send your work in for the next two weeks, we want to see how well you are doing.

If you are having difficulty with this, let us know and we will work something out.

Speak to us in one of the morning sessions if you are struggling to complete the work and we will help you.

I thought it would be useful for you to see these, done by my nephews over the summer. They’ll give you an idea of what you’re trying to achieve!

Bright Ideas

Have you got any ideas of things you'd like to do while we're learning in lockdown? Ideas so far have been playing some games (Uno? Pictionary?) and having a cooking session. We can do both. Let's see how much fun we can have!
