Working together to succeed

'Working together to succeed'

Topic Work

We have been looking at the book 'Lost and Found'. Both Squirrels and Hedgehogs loved the story and learning more about the characters.

We wrote posters to help the little boy friend the lost penguin.

A fantastic 'Lost Penguin!' poster. Look at all of those WOW words!

In Art, we created a Winter collage for our penguins.

During one of our Science lessons, we carried out a test to see which material would be best for a Winter coat. The children needed to work out which material was the most waterproof.

The children had some fantastic ideas using their knowledge of materials and what the weather is like in Winter!

Science experiment

Year 1 had so much fun on Oakridge Book day! The costumes were fantastic and the children loved interviewing the Gruffalo :)

Amazing volcanoes!

Squirrels and Hedgehogs loved making their very own volcanoes. We carefully followed instructions and watched our volcanoes explode! The children then had a go at writing a set of instructions of 'How to make a volcano'.

Look at our volcanoes!

In the Spring Term 2, we have been learning about weight and measurement. In both Year 1 classes, we have carried out lots of practical activities measuring height and length using cubes. We also used balancing scales to measure how heavy or light objects are using cubes. Have a look at the pictures below to see how we did it....

Easter fun!

On the last day of the Spring term, Squirrels and Hedgehogs went on an Easter egg hunt out in the sunshine. The children made their own Easter baskets, following instructions very carefully and decorated them beautifully.
