Languages

There are many languages spoken by our families and staff at Oakridge. We encourage children to be proud of being able to speak more than one language.

We follow the Rising Stars scheme of work for our KS2 pupils. Children enjoy using the resources including songs, games and stories Our languages curriculum offers pupils with weekly discreet French lessons. Pupils are encouraged to use French on other occasions too such as following classroom instructions and answering in French to the register. It teaches children the skills needed to communicate confidently in French and encourages children to express their ideas and thoughts in French. The children have the opportunity to learn French vocabulary linked to a range of topics including money, animals and school.
