Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is an additional grant given to the school to support children who may need support to ensure they have access to the same opportunities as their peers.
It is not a personal grant, and is not ring fenced for each individual child, but rather used to give children access to the support in school that we know will help raise attainment - both academically and socially.
How do I know if my child is eligible for Pupil Premium?
You will be asked if you think your child might be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium when they join the school. Benefits that would mean your child is eligible are:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
- Children who get any of the above benefits in their own right (i.e they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent or guardian) can also get pupil premium benefit.
Our office team can support you with the necessary applications. In addition, if your circumstances change at any time, and you think you now may benefit, please speak to the school office who can help.
In addition: children who have been looked after, in care, for more than one day will also receive Pupil Premium. A Service Child Premium is also given to schools for children whose parents are in the armed forces.
We assure parents and children that all matters regarding the use of this special funding are treated with discretion and in confidence.
It is important that all parents whose children are entitled to ‘Universal Early Years Free School Meals’ still register for the Pupil Premium Grant, (even if their children does not take up the option of a free meal) as the school will be entitled to the funding which can support your child in other ways.
The information below explains how we expect to use the Pupil Premium budget that's been allocated to the school, and how we have done so in previous years.
